About Kartsakhi Lake

Kartsakhi Lake is a large, shallow border lake situated in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, partially located in Georgia and partially in Turkey. It is the second largest lake in Georgia by surface area. Due to its shallow depth, it warms up relatively quickly in the summer.

Fishing Tips

  • Shallow Water Strategies: Because the maximum depth is only 1 meter, fishing with a float or a light feeder setup is recommended.
  • Stealth: Fish can be easily spooked in such shallow water. Keep noise to a minimum and cast carefully.

Access

Access is via dirt roads which may require a 4x4 vehicle after heavy rain. Due to its location on the border, make sure to carry identification and be aware of border zone regulations.
