About Aragvi River
The Aragvi is perhaps the most iconic mountain river in Georgia, easily visible as it carves its way down from the Caucasus along the Georgian Military Highway. It is divided into the Black and White Aragvi, which merge near Pasanauri.
Fishing Tips
- Wading is often necessary to reach the best pools, but use extreme caution as the current is very powerful.
- Light spinning gear with small spinners or spoons is the most popular method for trout.
- Fly fishing is excellent here, particularly in the upper reaches where the river narrows.
Access
Access is incredibly easy, as the main highway hugs the river for much of its length. Simply pull over at a safe spot and scramble down to the bank.
